Happy Birthday {Yahoo Events}

The brief was to create the birthday mailer for the employees which would be sent out on their Birthday. It should be elegant yet clean and professional.

Design Approach

For the consistency sake, I created the Birthday mailer design along the same lines of Anniversary artwork. I wanted to keep it simple yet classy. So I decided to have a concept of a gift wrapped with a ribbon and ballons all around it. Also, I thought putting a generic personal birthday message below the card would be a nice idea as it would look personalized. The concept worked really well and looked part of the family.

Color Theory

It's an internal event so the color palatte of Yahoo would be the best choice. Therefore, I used Purple as a primary color and used nuances of other colors in Yahoo palatte.

The Underworld

In Yahoo Singapore, the theme of the New Year Party 2013 was 'The Underworld'. The team wanted a really cool and inviting 8x8 ft long poster that has the feel of the party theme. I began the design with a concept of the apocalypse in mind. For example, the dark and spooky cloudy sky with lightning, flying bats, buildings set ablaze and devastation all over the place with the lethal effects of Underworld people's clash.

Impact

The design was very well received and adored by all the people. In fact, the poster turned out to be the main attraction of the party. People stood in front of it to get their cool pictures clicked. That was the whole idea behind leaving the some space in the center for people to occupy that space and get surrounded by characters in the poster.

Here are couple of the pictures from the party.

#DTBY {Singapore Airlines}

The Singapore Airlines would like to promote the campaign #DTBY (Do not travel by yourself) in collaboration with Yahoo. The whole idea was to encourage people not to travel alone but with their companion, friends, family or partner. Doing that will help them avail cool discounts on the air tickets. They would like to have an identity in the form of characters which is offbeat, easy to remember, funny and travel related.

Design Approach

I took an approach of designing holistic characters. The real objects with eyes and nose etc. I felt that would connect with the people yet look cute and inviting. After creating some sketches I finally came up with the design above. Each and every element of the characters was self created.

Color Theory

As it was a collaboration between Yahoo and Singapore Airlines the colors were to be a mix and match of both. Hence, I used nuances of Blue, Yellow and Purple.

Anniversary {Yahoo Events}

I got the requirement of creating buntings for Anniversary for the employees who have completed certain number of years in Yahoo. The design needed to be absolutely young and fun. The idea was to suspend the bunting in the air over the employee's desk for the whole day to celebrate the anniversary. Other employees would see that and felicitate their peers.

Design Approach

I decided to create a cutout of an artwork which will have the essence of achievement, happiness and pride. I made a concept of cup cake merging with an abstract shape below it which would have a message written on it. And the 'completed year' would be part of cup cake in a candle style.

Here Comes The Boom

For the QBR, I was asked to create a theme based logo – Here Comes The Boom. It should have a surprise element in it. The design was going to be used at a huge gathering as a backdrop. So the challenge was to create something unique, elegant and easily gettable. The design was to be printed as well so I had to make sure that it works well for both males and females.

Design Approach

Talking about surprise, I felt it had to be something coming out in an exploding manner which would be engaging and sophisticated. I used big and bold letters to have an impact besides contorted lines all around it to give an explosion effect.

Result

Everyone was so pleased with the design and I received huge amount of appreciation.
